About

I’m Marcel Larry Akunwata, and you know me as Blaisebeatz. I’m from Anambra State, but I grew up in Minna, Niger State, where I first played instruments in church and then in a live band. I started producing in 2006 under the name Larryblaise, and I went on to earn a degree in Statistics at the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
My early work includes 2Shotz and Brymo’s “Attention” in 2011, Jumabee’s “I Miss Good Music” and three songs on L.A.X’s debut album Rasaking. Skiibii’s “Omaema” was the breakthrough that told Lagos who I was, and then “PAMI” came in 2020, DJ Tunez’s hit with Wizkid, Adekunle Gold and Omah Lay.
I co-produced Kizz Daniel and Tekno’s “Buga”, TurnTable’s number one song in Nigeria for 2022, and I co-produced and co-wrote Chris Brown and Wizkid’s “Call Me Every Day”. I produced 1da Banton’s “No Wahala”, Adekunle Gold’s “Sinner” and “Mercy”, and Rema’s “Holiday”. On Davido’s GRAMMY-nominated album Timeless I produced three songs, including “Feel”, which was nominated for Best Global Music Performance in 2024. This year I’m on Asake’s M$NEY, BNXN and Asake’s “Eja Meja”, and Victony’s “PINO”.
OBAH
The tag at the top of my songs
When you hear those two syllables you already know whose beat it is, and for me “Obah” means continuous consistency and grace.
Church keys first
I learned to play in church, then in a live band, and I started producing in 2006, which is where every song on this site really began.
